GUESS WHO GETS TO HIT OTHER GIRLS????

Yes, it's true. I did it. I'm a Haymarket Rioter :)

I had tryouts this past Saturday (September18th) and it was awesome. I was pretty nervous because I've been skating with some pretty solid skaters that I knew were also trying out. All of my WIPEOUT training paid off! WOOT WOOT!!

Please know that it'll be quite a while before anyone can come and watch me BUT I (and the Windy City Rollers) can still use your support. Come check out a bout! The next one is scheduled for September 25th. BUY YOUR TICKETS NOW!!!

I'm on the move folks!!

So many things to tell you!

Derby tryouts are September 18th!! I've been skating, skating and skating some more. At open derby, a retired Windy City Derby girl told me that I have a pretty good chance of making it! WOOT WOOT!! Sister came down to visit a few weekends ago. I took her skating with the elderly :) She really enjoyed herself.

Like my skates? They're just starter skates but they get the job done. Notice the black wheels. They're indoor wheels. I've also purchase outdoor wheels which I used when I was in MN for the State Fair. No, I didn't skate around the Fair but I did entertain the Fair traffic when I was skating along Snelling Avenue.

Look at those sassy green wheels!!

WIPEOUT! ALERT!!!

I'm going to California the first weekend in October for an open casting call for WIPEOUT! I have been blessed by the Disney Angel that is Patrick. He was a fellow Showkeeper with me on Main Street USA at the Magic Kingdom while doing the Walt Disney World College Program (WDWCP) internship. He has volunteered to be my personal guide to L.A. and my host. I'm super excited to see him after 9 years and meet his loving family. His payment: a suitcase full of cookies :) What's super fantastic awesome is that I'm able to use my Southwest reward credits for a free flight to Cali. What's super fantastic awesome squared: Patrick's wife works at Disneyland and HE'S MAKING ME GO TO DISNEYLAND AFTER MY POTENTIAL AUDITION!! Oh the hardships ;) I've never been to the original Disney!!! **Please note that I've said my 'potential audition' because it's an open casting call; I'm not guaranteed an audition. The ABC WIPEOUT! site notes the following:

*Be creative in your interview! Anything you can do to get our attention is fantastic! Show us your personality! Come dressed in a costume, sing a song, show us your battle cry for the start of the course, do your "I just won $50,000" victory dance…don't be afraid to think outside the box!

I think I can handle those requirements!!

I can't begin to thank Patrick and his family enough. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

Thanks for following kids :)

It's August and I'm hot

Hey kids! It's time that I told you of my latest endeavor. I'm taking on the challenge of women's roller derby. Not to fret, I'm still working towards my ultimate goal of WIPEOUT!; I'm just taking on another challenge that is also physically challenging. I fully admit that I was inspired by the non-Oscar winning film Whip It starring Ellen Page, Kristin Wiig and Drew Barrymore. Here's a sampling of the movie:

What I'm doing isn't exactly the same as the movie. The league that I'm trying out for is part of the Women's Flat Track Derby Associate or WFTDA. It's a flat track, not elevated. The try-out is pretty intense and includes the following minimum skills requirements:
  • Skating posture, stride, crossovers, speed & endurance and stops
  • Falls
  • Balance/Agility
  • Skating with others
  • Blocking
  • Rules Test (http://wftda.com/rules)
Please know that I'm trying out to be on the Windy City Rollers farm team, the Haymarket Rioters. Once you make the farm team, you are groomed to be on one of the home teams. All just trying to get to the big show.

I have purchased a pair of skates, helmet (still need to adorn it with awesome stickers), mouth guard, elbow pads, wrist guards, knee pads & guards. No pictures available at this time but not to fret, I'm sure I'll conjure something up soon. I've participated in a derby skills class as well as open derby skate. There's also various open skate sessions available. Since I'm still working Saturdays and have Fridays off, I found an open skate from 10 am to 12 pm on Fridays called 'Organ Skate' at the Lombard Rink. I thought to myself, "I could totally skate to organ music." What I didn't consider was the other people that legitimately enjoy organ music: the elderly. I'm easily the youngest person by 30+ years. Man, they are AWESOME!!! They're doing the cha cha and other dances on their skates all awhile holding hands, skating backwards, doing sassy turns! Very coordinated and impressive! My favorite part is the outfits on the women. There are a neutral top, sequined skirts and tan skating tights. I'm guessing many of them used to ice skate but that's just an assumption. This past Friday I had a small accident that resulted in this:

I fell and landed directly on my left knee. My right knee isn't used to skating and twinges when I walk. Finally my left ankle has been aggravating me for about 5 months. So, I'm icing everything. It's quite magical.

I'm taking any suggestions for awesome names but know that I already have a few in mind.

Thanks for reading. Sunshine and rainbows to all.

Here's the scoop......

I have been continuing to check (stalk) the Mystic Pictures Casting site for WIPEOUT! and what did I find? A new application for Season 4 of WIPEOUT! to which I completed AND GOT A CONFIRMATION EMAIL THAT MY APPLICATION WAS RECEIVED!!!! I didn't get that the first time around. Yes, it's a little tiny win but hey, it's a win people.

As an update, I turned 30 and have been going non-stop for 4 weeks. It's quite wonderful. I am completely humbled by the love shown and am thankful to all of you who have been following my progress. I've been very dilligent at working out - so much so that I brought my Wii and Wii Board to MN and continued to work out. See what happened on my birthday:

Basically my Wii is busting my chops to keep working out. At least it wore a nice party hat...

I was lucky enough to celebrate my 30th at a Twins game with some very close family and friends. Please notice the bruise on my left arm. Not a clue where that came from. Also, it was the very 1st Twins game at Target Field to have fireworks following EVER! I think it was for my 30th :)

My friend Tex did me a solid and converted a vintage gem from VHS to DVD. Thanks Tex! All of you will enjoy. It's obvious that I am meant to be on WIPEOUT! after watching this video.

Sunshine and rainbows all my beautiful followers ;)
PS I bought a pair of roller skates for another endeavor. It's great cardio. You figure it out.

Lookie lookie what's kicking off the summer!!!

I can't tell you how exciting it was to watch WIPEOUT! tonight. It was magical and wonderful and OH SO MY CALLING!!! I was almost in tears watching the show. Why are people falling on giant red balls so darn HILARIOUS?

I'm half way through my intense workout sessions. It's going well! If anybody is interested in setting up an obstacle course, I'll do it! I'm super pumped!!

Sunshine and rainbows all :)

HELLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOO THERE!!

Sorry for the delay. I've been a lazy blogger but not a lazy worker out-er!!!! Look what I did:

WOOT WOOT!! I finished the Wii Active More Workouts 6 Week Workout! Hells yeah!! Up next: the Wii Active 30 Day workout AND the Wii Active More Workouts 6 Week Workout! That should be roughly over an hour of working out a day doing circuit training!! CRAZY!!! But I'm committed to those big red balls and making Gnigel proud.

In other news, here's the next reality show that I was offered to audition. Too bad I don't qualify. It sounds like a real winner:

ARE YOU IN YOUR 30's AND YOU'VE JUST BECOME A GRANDMOTHER?

Maybe a little disappointed? Were you shocked? Did you have something else planned for your life, but right now have to put that on hold? A downer and an upper - we call that balance

This was just posted on WIPEOUT!'s Facebook page:

"Wipeout" will air a SNEAK PEEK on June 1 in a very unexpected way -- a special two-hour blind-date-themed episode at 8 p.m. Twelve single guys and 12 single women will be paired to take on the "Wipeout" course as their first date and a chance to win $100,000.

For reals? A blind-date-themed episode!! This single gal could have met her soul mate!! Pretty bummed I missed this season but look what comes out June 22nd!! How could I not make Season 4 auditions with all of this preparation? AWESOME!!!

Thanks for reading. Sunshine and rainbows, c.

Sooooooo, you're saying there's a chance....

For those of you new to the blog, there's an old post missing (I accidentally deleted it - Space Cadet Corrin strikes again!!!). It was titled Bad News Bears; the gist of it of it was I missed the season 3 auditions for WIPEOUT! but my application has been submitted for season 4. So, I'm just early for season 4 :)

Now that I've applied with MysticArt Pictures, I get occasional emails advising me of other reality t.v. opportunities. Here's the email:

MysticArt Is casting a new Unscripted Comedy in the LA area for a project called “Breakup with me”. We are searching for both Men and Woman in their early to mid 20’s who have extremely dynamic, charismatic and strongly opinionated personalities about “Breaking Up”. This is an unscripted comedy surrounding A dream team of unappealing people who help end dead end relationships at the request of one of the two people in that relationship.

Here are some sample prototypes:
Slob: This is Booger from “Revenge of the Nerds”. Think Jonah Hill, Nate Torrence, or Judah Friedlander
Geek: This character would be similar to the guys on “Big Bang Theory”.
Choch: Think an unappealing version one of the guys on the Jersey Shore cast.
Hot Chick: This is the barometer for all the guys. She is hot, in control, and knows what works and what doesn’t.

So, what do you think? Should I apply? I think I'm going to pass on this one.

I'm back working out. I recently purchased EA Sports More Workouts for the Wii Active and started the 6 week workout. It's pretty intense. I like it because it has ab workouts and they are evil. And much to my surprise: THERE ARE OBSTACLE COURSES!!! Hells yeah!! Check out this video of an example of one of the courses. I'm pretty sure the voice overs are all Canadians which make me feel closer to home.

A friend of mine passed this video with hopes of me gaining inspiration for my WIPEOUT! adventure. It is pretty sweet. If anyone knows where I could train on this, I'm there.

Side note: YAHOO FOR TWINS BASEBALL!!! I'm such a happier person when baseball is in season. As you may know, I'm pretty much a Debbie Downer in the off season ;)

Thanks for following!!Sunshine and rainbows, c.

Now there's been a MAJOR setback

I had a fabulous Chicago St. Patrick's Day weekend with my super good friend Chad aka Chadillac aka Chadasaurus Pecs. He flew in from Denver; it was the first visit to the windy city. I took it upon myself to show him an awesome time. On Saturday, we rocked out with some great friends and green beer. On Sunday, I was quite sore and I couldn't quite figure out why. WELL, I realized it was from all of my sweet dance moves. Wonderfully, there's photographic evidence.

Alright. Enough of that.

On the actual St. Patrick's Day, I had quite the mishap. It was 10:30 am and I was heading to break with a co-worker when I decided walking down the stairs was much too easy. Instead, I missed the first step and barrel-rolled down 9 stairs to the landing. Very successfully, I cleared 4 conference rooms of people and embarrassed myself beyond belief.
The following are the facts that make this event hilarious:
1. I was wearing a dress. It was green for St. Patrick's Day.
2. I wore my hair curly that day (meaning - it's friggin' huge). One of the women that saw it happen asked (while removing the hair that was in my face), "Oh! Did you lose your hair clip?" Me: "No, my hair just looks like this today."
3. I some how nailed my co-worker with my heel and she has a bruise on her shin.
4. I couldn't wear pants to work because I have bruises across my lower back and on both my hips. The waistband made me cry when I tried to sit down.
5. The conversation with my 72-year-old coworker who sits in front of me that we had the day after the incident: 72-year-old coworker says - "Was it hard to get out of bed?" Me - "Yes. I'm really sore and bruised all over." 72-year-old coworker says - "I thought it was because your walker was on the other side of your room."

Alas, I'm in quite a bit of pain. The only working out I can do is walking. I have a pretty severe bruise on my left forearm, carpet burns on my right leg, a 2 inch cut on my shin from my other heel stabbing it and the bruises all over my lower back & hips. THANK BABY JESUS I didn't break a bone or lose any teeth or snap my neck. The reason so many people came to the scene was because my coworker screamed. She thought I died. I'm sure it looked like it. It takes a lot for me to get embarrassed and this was immensely successful with this incident.

I hope this makes your day and you had a hearty laugh at my debacle. SUNSHINE AND RAINBOWS FRIENDS!!!

Other forms of exercise (get your mind out of the gutter)

I've been looking at other ways I can get into shape. I'm just trying to spice things up. Don't get me wrong I LOVE MY WII, even though it's really creepy. On Friday mornings it asks me if I have plans for the weekend. Then I start to feel bad about myself because I know I'm going to be crocheting a blanket and watching a movie as my Friday night activity. Sigh.......OH DEAR! Sorry for the tangent. No pity parties here kids! Anyways, I've come across some interesting options to my daily routine. Let me know if you have any other suggestions.

First off is the INSANITY workout. I really, really want to try it. It looks crazy awesome. I'm fairly certain that if I did this work out at 6 am on my creaky hardwood floors, my neighbors would call the cops.

Secondly, is the Shake Weight. There really isn't too much I can say about this. Yes, it would be a quieter option to the INSANITY workout but I think I could burn just as many calories watching this video 100 times than doing the Shake Weight 'workout' once.

Here's the link to order: https://www.shakeweight.com/default.aspx?id=&refcode=1002

Sunshine and rainbows to all and to all a good night!!

Donations and Suggestions Needed

I'm not looking for money. (Although, I have been stellar at drunk texting Haiti. I think I've sent about $40.) I'm looking for stuff. No, I do not need to expand my family of gnomes and ducks. I think it would be in my best interest to train with things that are obscure like tires, picnic tables, boxing gloves and jump ropes. I'm sure there's a lot more things. If anybody thinks of anything else, please throw your comments on here. I want to be as spry as this little guy:

Thanks all for following this fiasco. I'm grateful to have your support. Check out my guns.

Corrin + Traffic cone = No bueno

Well my dears, I had a small accident last weekend with a traffic cone. If you look closely, you can see that there's a circle. Somehow my right thigh became perpendicular with the top of the traffic cone I was hurdling. I landed quite successfully on my left hip and side causing Nic to think I knocked all my teeth out. Teeth are intact; right thigh and left hip are a bit sore.

Not to fret my pets, this small wound did not deter me from continuing my training. I've worked out every single day this week. I reached an awesome milestone of 10,000 calories burned on the Wii Active!! Woot woot!! Anybody looking for a workout that has some serious results, try the Wii Active. It's super fun. I'm still recommending the Wii Fit (comes with the balance board) as a way to shape it up. Right now I'm still exploring all of the activities. I use many of Wii Fit for core tightening exercises.

Also, there has been a request for another picture to be included in this blog. It was described as "classic and twisted." Enjoy.

The Application has been submitted!!

I did it! I submitted my application for WIPEOUT! It was roughly 30 questions. I noted that the weirdest thing about me is that i carry a gnome named Gnigel practically every where I go. If I make it to the audition, I don't think G will be making it on the course with me for the following reasons:

- He's ceramic and would probably break.
- He's ceramic and I would have to attach him to some portion of my body. When I fall (not if people, I'm going down faster than the Titanic), I would break Gnigel and most likely break whatever bone nearest to where he is attached.
- He's been accused of being a weapon in the past (Summer of 2009: Def Leppard, Poison and Cheap Trick Concert - wanna know the story? Just ask). I'm sure the producers of WIPEOUT! would see him and think "Wow, that little ceramic gnome could really hurt someone if he went flying off one of our big red balls."

The following are the pictures that I submitted with my application:

One of the questions on the application asked what my most embarrassing moment was. Back in 2004, my best friend and I were nailed by a semi-truck that ran a red light. After checking to see if Nic was ok, I got out of the car to check to see if anything was bleeding or broken. I bent over only to feel a strong breeze come through the back of my pants. Alas, I partially mooned an entire intersection. Stupid Gap khakis. That's all I have for now. Sunshine and rainbows, c.

Getting Started

Hey kids! Welcome to my new and exciting journey into the wonderful world of big red balls, the Motivator, a wall of boxing gloves and many more spectacular obstacles. No, I'm not talking about a trip to the Mall of America the day after Thanksgiving. I'm talkin' about ABC's WIPEOUT! WHOO HOOO!

I'm going to document my progress right here on the interwebs.

Keep checking for the fun. With the help of my wonderful friends, I'm going to be hosting a "Help Corrin get to Cali for WIPEOUT!" Pub Crawl in Forest Park. I'll be taking suggestions for outfits to properly representing me (ex: MN, gnomes, sunshine, rainbows...)

THANKS FOR READING KIDS!!!!
